frequently asked questions, or give us a call at: 1 888 832 0781.
How long does it take to develop a site?
Anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months, depending on the size and complexity-- and your ability to make decisions required to advance the process. Larger sites are often developed in phases
How can I update and manage my website?
Our mTools content manager provides a simple way for you to manage your site: edit, add, or remove content, update your portfolio, and more. Anyone with basic computer skills can keep your site fresh and save money too.
Can you help me market my website?
Absolutely. We'll work with you to develop a Web marketing strategy that can maximize the return on your investment-- everything from Search Engine optimization to Pay-Per-Click campaigns and custom landing pages. See our Marketing Tips.
Will you evaluate our existing website?
Yes, we offer professional website evaluations to identify weaknesses and make specific recommendations to improve your site. We also offer user testing services to better understand how visitors actually use the site.
Does Resolve specialize?
We work with a wide variety of companies to develop succesful web strategies. Our areas of expertise include design professionals and the building industry, travel and tourism, and nonprofits and socially responsible businesses.
Do you work with clients anywhere?
We're a “virtual” company based in San Francisco. Many of our clients are in Northern California but we work with clients around the U.S. and as far away as New Zealand.
How do you deal with requests for changes?
Your project scope is carefully defined in our proposal. But it's impossible to produce a 100% complete scope of work before we begin. We have to make assumptions, one of which is that change requests from our clients are a normal part of the process.
Fortunately, you can make many of the changes and additions yourself! Our M-tools content manager makes it easy to edit content and add new pages at any time.
Some changes are minor and do not affect the cost or project schedule. The timing of your request can make a big difference. Changes in the design phase are typically easier to implement without additional cost than changes made during production and testing.
We often use the analogy of building a house to help our clients understand the process. If during the design phase, you decide you'd like a door between two rooms, it's pretty simple to modify the drawings. But if you make that decision after the wall has been built, the time and expense will be significantly higher.
For this reason, we don't proceed from design to production until we have your sign-off. When changes come up, we'll help you understand their implications. If necessary, we'll issue a change order describing the scope of the change and its impact on the schedule and budget. You must authorize the change order before we can act on it.
Sometimes, we'll suggest changes be designated for a future phase so as not to delay the project launch. Change is the very nature of a website: a site that's not changing is probably not as effective as it could be. But uncontrolled change leads to delays, difficulties, and unnecessary expense.
How much does a website cost?
The cost depends on its size and complexity, and the range of services you need. Our custom-designed websites range from $7,500 to $50,000. To provide an accurate price we need to work with you to define your project scope. For most projects we offer fixed-rate pricing. If the cost of your “wish list” exceeds your budget we're happy to develop your project in phases. The one thing we won't do is compromise on quality.
If you'd like a proposal, please contact us or request our Website Planning Guide. The information you provide will help us tailor a proposal to your specific needs.
