Oto Screen Web

CellScope Rails and iOS Development

Every time we touched the code base we tried to leave it better than we started so code quality gradually improved over the three-month engagement. We added 3,465 lines of code but deleted 5,575 lines for a net reduction of 2,110 — a huge simplification and great overall improvement to the project health.

On the iOS side, our first step was to stabilize the app by introducing tests and doing some refactoring. Unit testing often gets overlooked by iOS developers but we’ve found Xcode 5 now makes it easy to analyze code, monitor performance, and write tests. By adding a new test suite (with over 160 tests) we gained the confidence to move forward.

United Cellars

A wine retailer specializing in rare and fine wines, United Cellars serves 300,000 customers worldwide. Their Australian site (and New Zealand clone) are powered by Spree Commerce and Refinery CMS.

Our current focus is optimizing the United Cellars sites using analytics and machine learning. Most recently we've been working with to add a personalized recommendation engine for registered users.

Early tests show an 18% increase in conversion rate, a 27% increase in average order value, and a 52% increase in revenue from this one new feature.

Douglas Pharmaceuticals iPad Sales App

Saving time. Facilitating business processes. That's all good. But when sales reps actually enjoy using an app, even showing it off to their customers— that's great!

Orders are sent directly to the SAP back-end and on to fulfillment, eliminating all the paper-pushing and related errors. Win-win.

A New Course for Charter Schools

On the front end the site's most important job is to differentiate and engage each audience and start them on the path to conversion.

But on the back end, things weren't so simple. No single software could handle all the technical requirements and building something from scratch was cost prohibitive.

Our solution: integrate Active Admin, Refinery CMS and SalesForce into one system to manage accounts, content and members.

Users can create an account to submit their own story, comment on others’ stories, and enter contests. Simplicity and usability are the guiding principles.

The ability to scale is critical to the success of the project. Built with Ruby on Rails using the Active Admin framework, our solution is highly scalable.

RockMed Web App

We built a Ruby on Rails web application to help a non-profit organization manage thousands of medical volunteers for large concerts and events.

The result makes the onerous task of administering every event and volunteer a breeze and builds a flexible foundation for future growth.
