In the midst of the competitive and fast growing demands of the beauty industry, Pinrose has excelled at growing their business beyond their site with a unique Scent-finder application developed by the Resolve Digital team. The Challenge: Rapidly Changing Requirements

However, it soon became apparent that they needed flexibility to respond to growing business opportunities. Pinrose faced the challenge of embedding their quiz on other retail sites like, and deploying to kiosks at over a hundred Nordstrom stores across the U.S. The need for flexibility to respond to growing business opportunities became priority.

Pinrose is a luxury fragrance company that leverages science and technology to curate a personalized fragrance wardrobe for users.

The company launched its premium line of fragrances and innovative scent-finder technology online in the spring of 2014. Today, the company has grown to be an award winning perfume house with an unmatched list of personalized hypoallergenic, cruelty-free and vegan fragrances. Pinrose is sold online at, and as well as offline at over 120 Nordstrom and Sephora retail locations, as part of their clean beauty brands.

Pinrose's Needs

In search of innovation for their brand, Pinrose developed a scent finder quiz that determines your “scent personality” based on the interconnection of your sensory preferences. The answer options are in the form of images, shapes, colors and sounds, making the quiz fun and unique.

On the quiz, you are prompted to select the options you’re instantly and instinctively drawn to. The algorithm establishes your scent personality (for example, “the Goddess”) and presents you with three fragrances to match it. You can purchase 30ml bottles and/or Pinrose Petal Packs, their perfectly dosed single-use fragrance sachets.

Our Resolve Digital Solution

Understanding the ins and outs of Pinrose value proposition and business strategy, we recommended the quiz be made editable, so they would not need any extra custom software development work to adjust questions, images or scoring for each new application needed. Our top goal was providing Pinrose with the flexibility to take their application to new sites and retailers, without an overly-engineered solution.

With the work done by Resolve Digital, the company was able to focus on their sales and marketing strategies that would bring them award winning success.
